Google partnered with Gumband to power a dynamic ceiling installation that would serve as a friendly fixture in the community.
As guests walk through the lobby of Google’s iconic NYC building, 160 electromechanical flowers scattered overhead react to their movement throughout the space.
When the lobby is closed, an external facing camera allows passers-by to interact with the installation.

The Gumband-defined parameters were very useful while transferring the installation from a creative studio to its final location in the NYC lobby, where the parameters needed to be tuned differently based on the changes in environment.

Additional controls were exposed to open/close all flowers, test individual motors, update firmware, and other debugging or handy operational functions.
